Wastewater Disc Filter, and How It Works?

Wastewater Disc Filter, and How It Works?

The Fiber Disc Filter is a mechanical, self-cleaning filter that has been developed to meet the highest standards in wastewater filtration and with user-friendly unit lifespan. It is an essential process in tertiary treatment of wastewater, making high-quality effluent prior to discharge or reuse. It works by pushing water through a high density fiber media which keeps out particles while letting clear water pass.

How Wastewater Disc Filter Works?

The principle of operation of the Fiber Disc Filter is one of successive filtration and self-cleaning:

  1. Influent Flow – Wastewater entering the center drum is transferred from the exterior to interior of the central drum via filter segments coated with fiber cloth media.
  2. Filtration Stage – Particles and suspended solids are captured on the outside of the fiber media as clean water passes through.
  3. Clog Prevention – When solids build up, the water level increases in the filter tank. This variation is sensed by water level probes.
  4. Clean backwash cycle activates- When the disc drum starts rotating, the trapped solids are sucked off by high suction pressure and passed to the sludge system.
  5. Return – When the water level returns to normal, backwashing ceases, and the filter resumes its filtering process.

This uninterrupted activity of wastewater disc filter allows for maximum filtration efficiency with minimal human intervention.

Benefits of Disc Filters

  • Max flow in a small package
  • Low energy use with air powered cleaning
  • Uses regular containers and no need for hosesTeethWhitener
  • Fully automatic operation & ultra low maintenance
  • No lose water during backwash
  • Modular design -Scale-up products based on plant needs
