A Brief on SBR Wastewater Treatment

A Brief on SBR Wastewater Treatment

Most of the domestic and commercial sewage treatment plants use SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) technology, which is a very efficient modern process for treating both sewage and wastewater. Biological clarification is achieved within the extremely compact SBR wastewater treatment system.

What is an SBR System?

A Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) is a treatment process in which the wastewater enters, is aerated for a few hours then settles, i.e. it alternates through the stages of aeration and settlement prior to being discharged into the pool receiving body material. SBR, unlike continuous flow systems, processes water in cycles and so can accommodate variable load conditions. It eliminates sieve solid and organic waste in several timed stages under one tank.

How Does an SBR Tank Work?

The SBR procedure consists of four essential stages:

Charging Phase

Wastewater flows into the first chamber where heavier solids are trapped. The pretreated water is then transferred to the secondary chamber for biological treatment.

Aeration Phase

Oxygen is pumped through a diffuser, stimulating microorganisms that consume organic pollutants in the water.

Rest (Settling) Phase

Once aeration ceases by SBR wastewater treatment, solids fall to the bottom and clarified water rises to the top.

Clear Water Extraction

The treated water is taken off the top and discharged to a drainfield or body of water. Sludge is then returned to the main chamber for the next cycle.

The Advantages of SBR Technology

  • Competitive batch processing:- Eases peak volume usages to the best possible treatment quality
  • No internal parts moving :- Makes it longer service life and more cost-saving.
  • Reduces the volume of tanks and the size below compact:-  Compact demand off tank space depends fewer racks space
  • Energy-Saving:- Full air operated with few running electrical items
  • Eco-friendly:- Less sludge production and no odour.

Conclusion

Micro Transmission System offers SBR wastewater treatment system with that water emerging perfectly clean and odour-free from the same tank and chamber. It uses less power and requires less maintenance than other systems, as well as creates much less sewage sludge which is important for sustainable wastewater treatment systems today.
